phew, what a DAY! i woke up at 8:30, rode my bike to the studio, and started working on my still life wire sculpture. at 8:45, i had only 3 wheels finished. i got hungry in the middle of working, but i didn't have time to stop and get food. so you know what gabriel did? he called panda veg for delivery for me, ordered my food, AND paid for it. what a sweet boy. :] by 5:45 that afternoon, i had finished the assignment. well, i didn't finish two of the bones in the back of the tonka dump truck, but i was done. i was so proud of myself; i really didn't expect to be done with it, and i especially did not expect it to look as good as it did. we had class at 6PM, and it started out with a critique. my piece was definately one of the top three. no one had anything negative to say about it, including my teacher. what a relief... since last night's crit SUCKED.
something kind of gross: i was working with wire earlier today, and all of a sudden, it was wet. i even said, "ew, what's wet?" and kind of laughed it off. in the middle of the critique, i looked at my index finger and realized that my blister had popped. ew, haha.
so tonight, i have to do the second draft of my unit 1 paper. as of right now, i'm writing about being a non-swimmer; a sort of cultural identity, i guess. at first, i thought to myself, "i'm white, i have no cultural identity. damnit", but i tried to look closer into myself and see what kind of categories and cultural ties i share with other people. for example, being a vegetarian, a product of a broken marriage, only child, agnostic. whatever. i tried to think of a topic that was unusual, yet something the reader may be able to identify with. so, my paper is about not being able to swim, haha. i think i have some really descriptive parts to it, so far. i just need to link the anecdotes together and create a conclusion. and add more analysis, i guess.
someone e-mailed me today about the apartment and wanting to view it, so i think after class i'm going to ride my bike over to the biggs building and hopefully find someone who will be interested in renting the place.
oh, and after that, i think i'm going to hang out with sam and will! i've had a pretty... work-loaded week, so it will be nice to be able to hang out with friends. i can't wait until this weekend, yaaay! i think caitlin and i are going to go on a search for a TV stand, so we can use the biiiigggg screeeen ttteeeeeveeeee.
i suppose i will start writing [more] now. OH! and check this out! |
